I want to share with you my vision and how this idea to create Figure Skater Fitness magazine came about. I was heading to Florida for vacation and needed some reading material for the flight. At the store in the airport, I was flipping through running, hockey, biking, all kids of sports magazines and it suddenly occurred to me there is nothing sport specific out there for figure skaters.

This is when the idea was born. I immediately decided that I would publish the next figure skater magazine. As a former internationally ranked skater for Canada back in the day, we didn’t have a lot of references for training. Whether it was fitness, mental training or injury prevention, there simply was not a lot out there or it was outdated information on the internet. You were left alone figuring out if the information was current and legitimate. My goal was to make this magazine a scientific approach to sport specific training. I wanted to gear this as a resource for skaters, coaches and parents.

The magazine is released quarterly based on the seasons of training, where we have industry specialists writing scientific based articles on the current trends. And there you go, 7 years later, we are a worldwide distributed magazine with a huge online presence. Thanks to all of you, we are able to provide you with ongoing information from amazing writers from all across the world.
